JOHANNESBURG - Health Minister Zweli Mkhize was a no-show at a meeting of Parliament's Health portfolio committee on Friday morning.

Committee member Naledi Chirwa of the EFF: "There is a kind of dishonesty in this meeting and how we are having it because last year already, we called for the minister to resign and part of the reasons he said that he could not resign was because there was no link between him and the corruption at Digital Vibes, so it has become important to discuss any reports pertaining to corruption."
The president is under pressure to take action against the minister, who's embroiled in a scandal stemming from an irregular contract between the Health Department and a company owned by two of Mkhize's close associates.
“I know people want this to be done yesterday, I know there is that impatience, and they would like me to be decisive, to take action yesterday – I have tended to be careful in doing these things, I would want to wait for the full process,” President Ramaphosa said.
Speaking during a rare press briefing in Parliament on Thursday, President Cyril Ramaphosa said that the matter was receiving his full attention and he did not want to make rash decisions.
