Phoenix pastors held at gunpoint during service, robbed of R50 000
Durban - Ten armed men stormed a church in Phoenix on Tuesday morning where ten pastors had been holding a church service.
The men armed with pistols and AK47's entered a church in Rydalvale, Phoenix just before 12.
According to a police source the pastors had gathered at the church for a prayer service when they were approached by the suspects.
"The premises were locked when the pastors noticed a male suspect at the main gate.
"The suspect began cutting the gate with an aluminium cutter and suddenly 9 other suspects entered the premises," said the source.
"All the pastors were made to lie on the floor whilst the suspects robbed them of their personal items such as cell phones, wallets, jewellery and cash all to the value of R50 000. The suspects then fled in a White Mercedes Benz and a White Golf."
The pastors declined to comment on the incident.
